Summary:
The Engineering Manger will lead a team of engineers responsible for creating next generation products as well as maintaining cutting-edge product lines for Adaptive Instruments Corporation. You will work with team members to define requirement specifications, make high-level decisions, and manage projects from start through completion. In addition all product engineering will be lead through you. A through collaboration with the Manufacturing department by providing any needed engineering support will be expected.
As the Engineering Manager, you will provide an interface with the rest of the company through which product requirements, product roadmaps, and technical discussions will flow. You will also be responsible for projects to extend or fix existing products. The Engineering manager will handle all staffing and management of his department as well as be responsible for the career development of the team.
Some travel will be required (< 10%).

This person will be responsible for assisting engineers with constructing, debugging, and documenting apparatus for experiments as well as automated production lines. Under engineering guidance design and/or operate experiments, collect data and organize results. Assist in automated production line problem resolution including: fault identification, repair, documentation, and recommendations. Assist in product failure investigations performing fault identification, repair, as well as generating reports and recommendations to the senior quality engineer. Based on data-sheet specifications and product schematics seek out and determine alternate components. Evaluate replacements parts through experimentation with engineering oversight. Develop understanding as well as inventory and maintain engineering lab instruments, parts, and tools as well as make recommendations for future purchases.
Skills:
Strong electrical and mechanical debugging skills as well as meticulous record keeping habits are needed. Comfort with interpreting electrical schematics, data-sheets, and mechanical drawings. Comfort with manually re-working surface-mount electronics as well as knowledge of good soldering practices and electro-static precaution methods. The ability to set-up PC based data collection systems as well as parse data into a convenient form will be needed, prior experience is a plus but demonstrated learning ability is acceptable. Understanding of the scientific method is required as a guide for all activities.
Self-discipline in work ethics is a must.
Familiarity with industrial process monitoring and control systems is a plus.

We are seeking a senior level Embedded Software Engineer who will design, develop and maintain our products. Qualified applicants will work in a small team of software and hardware developers primarily on new products. This position requires excellent organization skills and meticulous attention to detail. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years experience and a proven track record with embedded software development. Must have strong C language skills and the ability to clearly document software systems and protocols. Extensive experience with embedded operating systems and communications protocols is necessary for the position.
